EMU 365: Nightmares in Infectious Disease

We’re all taught that ‘fever in a returned traveller’ is malaria until proven otherwise. But what else could it be when your malaria workup is negative? In this video from North York General’s Emergency Medicine Update Conference 2018, Dr. Leeor Sommer talks about two other clinically important diagnoses to keep on your differential the next time you see a ‘fever in a returned traveller’ in your emergency department.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Leeor Sommer is an emergency physician at St Joseph’s Health Centre and North York General Hospital in Toronto. He completed  his undergraduate and residency training at the University of Toronto, where he now serves as the EM undergraduate electives representative. He has done extensive teaching at the undergraduate, postgraduate and CME levels.
